Modernism Week, for Planners

The February festival (plus the October fall edition): what it is, what sells out first, and how to build a trip around it without tickets in hand yet.

Updated August 2026

Every February the architecture crowd descends on Palm Springs for eleven days of house tours, double-decker bus loops, lectures and cocktail parties in landmark living rooms - Modernism Week, the event the whole season orbits. A smaller fall edition runs each October. (It’s an independent organization; we’re admirers, not affiliates.)

What actually sells out

Interior house tours first - they’re the only regular chance to get PAST the hedges this site keeps honestly warning you about - then the signature home tours and anything with ‘Neutra’ in the title. Lectures and the vintage travel trailer shows hold longer. Tickets release in stages from late fall; if February is your trip, watch the organization’s own site and book housing before tickets, because the town fills first.

If you’re not there in February

The buildings don’t leave. The free route works every week of the season, the modernism bike tour (4.97/5, 398 reviews) runs year-round at $115, and the private Twin Palms walk below gives the deep version any month:

Season math still applies: October to May is the window, and February doubles the town’s pulse and its hotel rates.
